Boyi’s (born 1998) work explores the relationship between nature, technology, and control using invasive species. Recently, his primary creation has been wallpaper made from Japanese Knotweed. At first glance, this wallpaper appears as a typical home decoration, but upon closer inspection, its unique material reveals itself, challenging viewers’ perceptions of the natural versus the artificial and the ordinary versus the extraordinary.
